Metso Paper to supply a pulp drying line and a board machine rebuild to Ripasa, Brazil

Metso Paper will supply a complete pulp drying line to the Brazilian Ripasa S/A Celulose e Papel in Limeira, in the state of Sao Paulo, and a board machine rebuild to their Ripasa Embu mill. Both the drying line and the board machine rebuild will be started up in mid 2005. The total order value is close to EUR 30 million.

The scope of Metso Paper's delivery for the pulp drying line includes bleached stock screening, wet end, airborne dryer, cutter-layboy and pulp baling systems. Additionally, Metso Paper will deliver all main process machinery, tanks and towers, piping system as well as training, and supervision of erection and start-up. The customer will carry out the civil and erection work.

The drying line is dimensioned for a 760 adt/d capacity and prepared for future production increase up to 1,200 adt/d. The trim width of the drying machine is 3,900 mm and the design speed 200 m/min. The fourdrinier-type machine is furnished with combi and shoe presses for optimum dryness prior to the airborne dryer.

The delivery for the Ripasa Embu mill includes a completely new 3-layer wire section with three new hydraulic SymFlo headboxes and the necessary new stock approach systems. Training as well as supervision of erection and start-up are included in the delivery.

The board machine is designed to produce various high-quality folding boxboard grades. The machine has a wire width of 2,960 mm and a speed of 350 m/min.

Ripasa S/A Group is among the biggest pulp, paper and board producers in Brazil. It has four production units in the state of Sao Paulo, as well as vast eucalyptus tree plantations.
