In March 2021, VPK Paper's Oudegem mill in Belgium successfully started up a new Valmet IQ quality control system on PM7. With this installation to replace an aging system that was at end-of-life, Valmet has now replaced the quality control systems (QCS) on all three machines in Oudegem.
Running two different sheet weights on 1PM, the mill noticed that when changing weights, the sheet tracked to the far edge of one side of the suction drum roll. After taking hours to adjust the end deckle seals, the mill was looking for a time-saving solution that will increase production.
The steadily growing global demand for tissue is increasing the need for new technologies targeting improved material, time and energy efficiency in production. Valmet’s Intelligent Roll Solutions for tissue offer effective tools for tissue making from wet end to rewinder to achieve these goals.
By tracking the condition of its Hervanta heating plant with Valmet’s Industrial Internet (VII) applications, Tampereen Sähkölaitos recognizes failures proactively, improves maintenance and boosts reliability.
A cooperation has been initiated between Valmet, Hera Group and Ayrion for the Life Steam project, which is an EU-financed project within the Life programme. This is a joint effort and Valmet will in the beginning of 2023 deliver a pretreatment BioTrac demonstration plant, with a capacity of 23 tons a day of dry material to the Hera plant near Bologna, Italy.
To stay ahead of the curve in helping vessels become more environmentally friendly, Valmet started a project to reduce particle emissions from medium-speed ship engines by combining its proven closed-loop marine scrubber with its wet electrostatic precipitator (WESP).
Arctia Karhu has several harbour icebreakers in the Finnish coastal waters. One of them is the harbor icebreaker Ahto. It is involved in supporting icy navigation and working as a tugboat to help LNG vessels get safely to the port. The operating process in the vessel is controlled using the Valmet DNA automation system.
I work as a category manager in customer mill and construction site procurement at Valmet’s Operational Development team. I have been working twenty years at Valmet in various roles, such as in site planning and cost estimation, production, procurement, and sales development.
