Vaasa Water’s Pått wastewater treatment plant wanted their new centrifuge to operate fully automatically, which requires several continuous measurements. With a Valmet TS and Valmet DS the plant can control the polymer dosing and measure the dry content. The whole project paid for itself in about 1.5 years through the considerable savings in the reprocessing costs of the dried sludge.
Nippon Steel Engineering, in Japan, wanted to increase the amount of dewatered sludge to the drying plant. With Valmet DS and Valmet HS their input moisture increased by 3.3% and the output moisture by 1%. At the same time, their fuel usage per moisture input was decreased by 5.5%.
Irish Water’s Athlone Wastewater Treatment Plant improved the control of its sludge dewatering process with a Valmet Sludge Dewatering Optimizer and two online Valmet Total Solids Measurement, achieving 7% less energy on centrifuge and 18% dry solids in their cake sludge.
