Valmet DigiStar Trainee Program

About the program

Valmet DigiStar Trainee Program is targeted for students who want to gain knowledge of industrial software development and diversify their skills in a practical environment alongside their studies. The program is organized and trainees are employed by Valmet Automation Systems Business Line and trainees work in Valmet Industrial Internet and Valmet Automation Platform R&D Business Units. The length of the program four months (February 1 – May 31, 2023).

During this program you are offered

• Four months paid traineeship with 10-20 hours of working time per week
• Nominated buddy to support you both with practical questions and professional topics
• Interesting work tasks aligned with your strengths, for example application development and configuration, software testing and test automation, usability/user experience specifications and analysis, as well as project management
• Versatile trainings, lectures, and possibility to discuss with management and more experienced colleagues

What we are expecting from you

• Suitable studies in University or University of Applied Sciences focused on information technology, computing science, software engineering, data analytics or similar
• Commitment to work minimum 10 hours per week and participate in weekly two-hour training sessions in our Tampere office
• Minimum of two years of completed studies and elementary or more advanced coding skills (for example Python, SQL, JavaScript, C++, embedded systems) already in place AND/OR basic studies in design or project management
• Good collaboration and communication skills, curiosity to understand complex systems, and ability to challenge existing ways of working and innovate.

After the program

After the program there are different options to continue working at Valmet, for example as a summer trainee, thesis worker, fixed term or permanent worker depending on state of your studies, life situation and Valmet’s business needs.
