Valmet Oyj's trade press release September 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. EET

Valmet will supply an automation solution to Tampereen Sähkölaitos in Tampere, Finland, to boost district heat production and distribution, lower production costs and improve the quality of the district heat.

The order was included in Valmet's second quarter 2016 orders received. The delivery will be handed over to the customer in the spring of 2018.

"The delivery combines Valmet's experience and service security gained from over 300 optimization package projects during the past almost 30 years. This project provides the customer with Valmet's best know-how to improve the district heat production efficiency," says Teijo Salonpää, Solution Manager, Automation, Valmet.

Benefits through weather and consumption forecasts

Valmet's delivery includes a Valmet DNA District Heating Manager automation solution that will be integrated into the Valmet DNA automation system used by Tampereen Sähkölaitos to control district heat production. It complements the electricity and district heat production optimization system delivered by Valmet earlier and ensures that the results gained through optimization will be utilized in controlling district heat production. The solution is part of Valmet's Industrial Internet offering that boosts the customer's processes.
The total solution forecasts variations in the weather and district heat consumption as well as takes into account changes in the electricity and fuel markets. Thanks to these forecasts, the quality of district heat delivered to the customers will improve and production costs will decrease. Also, the district heat network life cycle will be longer as there will be less heat strain on the network.
