Decreased drive energy consumption with Press Roll Cover PP

A pair of press rolls in BillerudKorsnäs Gruvön PM 6, producing containerboard grades, started to require recovering as the old rubber covers were wearing out. BillerudKorsnäs has clearly detailed targets on energy-efficient production. In addition, mill’s primary requirement for press rolls was uncompromised durability.

Valmet’s team proposed recovering the rolls with highly durable Press Roll Cover PP polyurethane covers with low rolling resistance.
Results
This investment quickly paid back in saved drive energy costs. Press Roll Cover PP also eliminated the need for roll cooling water circulation, decreasing maintenance, water and pumping costs.
