Metso to supply recausticizing plant rebuild to Smurfit Kappa Kraftliner in Lövholmen, Sweden

Metso will supply two lime mud filters to Smurfit Kappa Kraftliner in Lövholmen, Sweden. The order was received in June 2013 and the start-up is planned in June 2014. The value of the order will not be disclosed.
“The old filters from 1972 were totally out worn and had to be replaced. Doing this forced replacement also opened up the possibility to design the filters and the conveyor system for a future capacity and a flexible system with a high availability on lime production. The expected outcome of the project is high and stable availability and reduced operation cost”, says Bo Johansson, Manager Technology at Smurfit Kappa Kraftliner.
The order is included in Metso’s Pulp, Paper and Power second quarter 2013 orders received.
Technical information
The scope of supply includes two lime mud filters with auxiliary equipment and also a conveyor system which facilitates distribution of lime to respective lime kiln and lime storage. The two lime mud filters will replace three existing filters.
