Metso Corporation's stock exchange release on June 8, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. local time

Metso is arranging a Capital Markets Day event for analysts and investors in
Kirkkonummi and Pori, Finland today and tomorrow. The focus of the event is on
Metso's actions to exploit the opportunities of the recovering market with its
sustainable solutions. There will be presentations about the Group, its
reporting segments and also independent expert views about the mining and
bio-energy markets.

"We have seen the recovery in the global economy to gain momentum and there
continues to be positive signs in demand in most of our customer industries. The
improving customer capacity utilization rates are supporting our services
business and most of our customers are gradually regaining their confidence to
increase the level of their investments. We are following the recent financial
turmoil in southern Europe, but have so far not seen any material impact of it
on our global trading environment," says Jorma Eloranta, President and CEO of
Metso Corporation.

"We believe that Metso is today stronger than a year-and-a-half ago. Our
development is supported by continued high growth in emerging markets, our
strong services business, and increasing demand for our environmental solutions.
We have added flexibility to the cost structure and strengthened our financial
position. We continue our persistent efforts towards reaching our long-term
financial targets," comments Eloranta.

Presentations of Metso management at the Capital Markets Day are available on
our website at Webcasts of the presentations will be
available on the same web address on June 8, 2010.
