Valmet supports the wellbeing of children at Dąbrówka Orphanage

Valmet’s social responsibility program supports selected local projects around the world for the wellbeing of society and the environment. The theme of the EMEA area project is 'Equal Opportunities for Wellbeing' and it focuses on supporting the Dąbrówka Orphanage located in Jelenia Góra, Poland. 

The Dąbrówka orphanage takes care of children that are between 10 to 18 years of age. The orphanage aims to educate and meet the necessary living, development, social, health and religious needs for the 42 children living currently in the orphanage. Valmet´s project enhances the children´s wellbeing and possibilities for education. 

"When we were selecting the area program for EMEA, we wanted to focus on children and their welfare and safety. The former PMP Group that Valmet acquired in 2020 had cooperated with the Dąbrówka orphanage and we wanted to continue this local support. Together, we want to help the children in Dąbrówka and we are especially pleased that the orphanage has expressed its will to take refugee children from the crisis areas of Ukraine as well,” says Vesa Simola, Area President, EMEA. 

A vehicle is essential for daily childcare 

The orphanage finds it important to raise children in a family environment and to ensure they are provided with best possible care and possibilities for the future. To support these targets, Valmet will donate a new vehicle to the orphanage. The agreement was celebrated with a ceremony at Valmet’s premises in Jelenia Góra.  

“Having a car is essential for our daily childcare tasks. Thanks to this, we can transport children to schools and kindergartens every day, as well as to therapeutic classes, which allows us to ensure the proper development of our pupils. An important aspect is also the possibility of transporting children to specialist doctors both in the city and throughout Poland whenever they need it. Due to the location of our orphanage, it is also necessary to transport supplies important for everyday functioning. The new car will provide us with the above-mentioned needs for the coming years ", says Ms. Katrzyna Lenart-Wyrobek, Director of the Dąbrówka orphanage.
