Smart filtration ensures lower fresh water consumption and reduces chemical consumption

Disc filters have many applications in pulp and paper mills for stock thickening. They are commonly used in the paper mill as save-alls for the recovery of fiber and filler, and for clarification of whitewater. Modern disc filter save-alls now produce clear and super-clear filtrates for stock dilution and machine showers that minimize freshwater use.
Valmet’s disc filter improves efficiency and reliability while simplifying maintenance and service procedures. Several design features secure the disc filter’s increased capacity. Good flow characteristics – the result of shaft design, optimal internal volumes and filtrate valve selection – give the disc filter better cake formation and filtrate quality while offering increased capacity compared to other similarly sized disc filters.
Higher capacity through unique design
The increased capacity of the OptiDewater Disc is gained from a combination of several design features. Good flow characteristics, resulting from the shaft design, optimal internal volumes and filtrate valve selection, provide the disc filter with better cake formation and filtrate quality while offering increased capacity compared to other similarly sized disc filters.
Valmet’s disc filters feature a unique shaft and disc connection for best available performance.
Leakproof structure increases reliability
OptiDewater Disc sectors feature the standard open grid design, but their mounting to the shaft is unique. The mounting rods, slotted to hold the sectors, are clamped to hollow feet welded to the central shaft. They maintain perfect alignment. The welded feet eliminate the traditional bolt-on foot and gasket that can lead to vacuum loss from a poor sector to center shaft connection. The shaft sealing design of both the gear and valve ends has also been improved to prevent leakages to the valve and outside the machine.
