Key technology for Metsä Group's Äänekoski bioproduct mill
Metsä Group's bioproduct mill in Äänekoski was started up on August 15, 2017. Valmet's delivery to the mill included a recovery boiler, pulp drying line, gasification plant, lime kiln, sulfuric acid plant, and mill-wide Valmet DNA automation system.
The benefits of Valmet Smelt-X to recovery boiler operators are many. As most of the smelt bed is removed while the boiler is still operating, the whole boiler, including the remnants of the smelt bed, cools during depressurization after firing is stopped.
RoboStacker is a high-capacity stacker that can process up to 300 bales/h. The machine offers rapid and gentle handling of pressed, unwrapped and untied bales during lifting and stacking to produce bale units weighing up to 1000 kg.

Valmet RoboTyer is a tying machine that automatically applies high-tensile steel wire around pulp bales at preselected positions. Each wire is tied at the bottom of the bale by a double-twisted knot.
Valmet RoboFolder is a folding machine that produces finished bales wrapped in pulp sheets or roll paper. This proven design produces smart, uniform finished bales at rates of up to 300 bales/h and has well-documented high availability from its use at well over one hundred mills around the world.
Inkjet Marker
This fully automatic system for efficient and reliable marking of pulp bales is part of a complete RoboBaling line. The Valmet inkjet marker applies high-quality printing to mark bales with company logos, pulp trademarks and other relevant information such as production data.
The RoboStacktyer consists of a press unit and tying unit, for highly efficient production of smart, compact wire-tied bale units at a capacity of up to 50 units per hour. The units typically consisting of four to eight bales, which are then ready for shipping.

RoboDestacker is a fully automatic machine for efficient destacking of pulp bale units down to single bales after manual dewiring. This high-capacity, 100 % electric powered solution, available in stationary or movable versions, delivers destacking rates of up to 285 bales/h.
