Valmet’s training simulator gives positive results at Södra Cell Mörrum
As part of the successful upgrade of the recovery boiler control system at Södra Cell’s Mörrum mill, Valmet supplied a training simulator for DCS testing and operator training. The results were a success: a smooth start-up of the boiler, confident operators, and plans for another simulator.

Arauco's MAPA project makes progress and produces the first pulp bale from its new production line
On Friday, January 20, 2023, Arauco produced the first bale of pulp by the new production line of the Arauco MAPA project, which includes major improvements to line 2 and the installation of this new production line (line 3) at the Arauco pulp mill, located in the Biobío region, in Chile.

NAPP and Valmet reach record success together

All the pieces coming together for fossil free pulp production
Construction of the Metsä Fibre Kemi bioproduct mill is in full swing, with 3,500 people working at the site to start up a mill that is world class in energy, environmental, and material efficiency. The completely fossil fuel free new mill is scheduled to start up in the third quarter of 2023.

Strong teamwork brings success to SCA Obbola
SCA’s increased production capacity project at their kraftliner mill in Obbola, Sweden, is nearing completion. Close collaboration and good dialogue between the SCA and Valmet teams have delivered positive results. The five-year investment project is called Expansion Obbola, and it will be completed in 2023. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic, Valmet has successfully delivered machinery for two of the subprojects: a new lime kiln and a fiberline upgrade.

Successful start-up of Expansion Södra Cell Värö 2.0
Södra Cell’s mill in Värö, Sweden, continues to make stepwise and targeted investments for a brighter future. The latest expansion project was successfully started up in October 2021, six months ahead of the original plan. Valmet was a key partner in the capacity increase and two sub-projects on the fiber line and pulp drying line.

Valmet simulators assist effective and safe management at LD Celulose’s new pulp mill
Valmet has delivered all the simulators to support the control system tests and operator training at LD Celulose’s new mill in Indianópolis, Brazil. The Valmet Training Simulator is utilized in all process islands, from start to finish of production, with a total of 14 process areas.

The future of the bioindustry
Project Star is one of the largest private investments in Brazil in the last 20 years, and it has made Bracell the largest producer of dissolving pulp in the world. The mill runs without any fossil fuels and can produce up to three million tonnes of kraft pulp per year.
