Construction of the Metsä Fibre Kemi bioproduct mill is in full swing, with 3,500 people working at the site to start up a mill that is world class in energy, environmental, and material efficiency. The completely fossil fuel free new mill is scheduled to start up in the third quarter of 2023.
Klabin’s massive Puma II project in Brazil is making history by challenging the conventional thinking that softwood pulp is required to make high-quality kraftliner. Its new OptiConcept M kraftliner machine will produce Eukaliner – the world’s first kraftliner using 100 percent eucalyptus.
Pulp with higher quality, combined with increased yield from the wood raw material, is now a reality for Smurfit Kappa at its mill in Piteå, Sweden. The cooking process technology from Valmet played an important role in the successful rebuild project.
Pulping and biorefinery companies can benefit from utilizing Valmet’s piloting capabilities, ranging from comprehensive laboratory-scale to industrial-scale trials, to test new raw materials or pulping and biomass pretreatment processes, for example.
