Earlier, Sappi Saiccor in South Africa had no measures in place for quantifying liquor carry forward from the brown stock washing. The mill decided to install a Twin Blade model of Valmet Microwave Consistency Measurement to alleviate the challenges. The solution helped the mill to achieve higher consistencies, resulting in higher efficiency and lower solids losses.
The installation of the consistency meter on the product line will surely yield positive results going forward. In the near future, the consistency meter will be used to assess the benefits of the trial planned. Valmet support was excellent in executing the installation, verifications and calibrations of the meter.
