Sachtleben Pigments relies on Kemotron technology

Sachtleben Pigments Oy is a producer of specialty pigments. Its production process requires sulphuric acid (H2SO4), which is produced in its own sulphuric acid plant. Producing sulphuric acid is a complex process. To operate at an optimum level, the acid concentration has to be kept at fixed pre-set values through continuous online measurements. The plant has relied on Kemotron technology since the mid-1990s.

To operate at an optimum level, the acid concentration has to be kept at fixed pre-set values through continuous online measurements. Reliability and high availability are key factors in running a demanding sulphuric acid process. At Sachtleben, the sensors are located outdoors.


Inline concentration measurement that gives accurate online process information and is designed to withstand even the harshest conditions.


Reliable information helps to control the other parts of the process. To ensure reliability, the measurements
are checked once a week against laboratory test results. Calibration is hardly ever needed.
