Improved HC press control with Valmet High Solids Measurement

BillerudKorsnäs Karlsborg’ mill manufactures Sack Paper, Formable Paper (FibreForm®) and Kraft paper, as well as bleached pulp. The mill wanted to measure pulp consistency before high consistency refining, after the HC presses, so they acquired two Valmet High Solids Measurements (Valmet HS) installed in stock preparation before the board machine. They now get real time information of HS press consistency and a more stable press output and material to refining, leading to better quality at the board machine.
We have now run our HC presses with the Valmet HS installations since 2018. Availability and measurement results of the instruments have been really good. Our operators now rely on the results from the two Valmet HSs and optimize the press settings accordingly. The more stable output we are getting from the presses is contributing to our end-product quality.
