Valmet received decision from the Liverpool Crown Court

Valmet's affiliate Valmet Ltd in U.K., received a decision from the Liverpool Crown Court on December 4, 2015 regarding an unfortunate accident which took place at Sonae Industria (U.K.) chipboard plant in Kirkby in 2010. At that time Metso Paper Ltd (currently Valmet Ltd) was contracted by the customer Sonae Industria (UK) Ltd to carry out general maintenance work at their chipboard processing plant. In the accident two persons, one Metso Paper employee and one subcontractor employee, performing maintenance work died.
Valmet Ltd was fined £190,000 after pleading guilty to breaching the UK Health and Safety at Work act. The second defendant Sonae Industria (UK) Ltd was fined £220,000 after pleading guilty to breaching the UK Health and Safety at Work act. The costs of the investigation and hearing will be paid by the both companies, which totals £107,000 each. The final amount to be paid by Valmet Ltd. is £297,000.
