Valmet Corporation's press release on March 27, 2014 at 3:15 p.m. EET

Valmet will supply a 22 megawatt (MWth) waste boiler unit to Nybro Värmecentral AB's new combined heat and power plant in Transtorp in the southeast of Sweden. The order is included in Valmet's first quarter 2014 orders received.

Valmet's delivery is part of Nybro Värmecentral's project of which total value is about EUR 54 million. The value of Valmet's delivery will not be disclosed.

The new waste-fired power plant will account for about 70% of the annual heat demand in Nybro municipality which is about 100 GWh. The new facility will double the electricity production from the current level of 20 GWh to 40 GWh. The start-up of the new plant is scheduled for the spring 2016.

"Valmet was selected after a strict evaluation process for this project. We have good experiences of their technology. With this investment we will have altogether four biomass or waste boilers from Valmet, built during the decades 1960, 1980, 1990 and 2010", says Niklas Lindvall, Production Manager at Nybro Energi.

"This type of boiler is proven technology that meets the EU directive, IED requirements on waste to energy boilers by a wide margin. I am excited about this project and look forward to realize it together with Nybro Värmecentral," says Anders Victorén, Sales and Project Manager from Valmet.

Details about the waste to energy boiler delivery to Nybro Värmecentral AB

The 22 MW waste boiler will utilize bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) technology with the highly efficient low emission control, Advanced Combustion Zone (ACZTM), and burn a wide span of household and industrial wastes. It's proven technology with 20 similar reference waste boiler units in operation and has now been further adapted for improved corrosion resistant and service friendliness. Valmet's delivery scope includes the entire boiler unit with auxiliary equipment such as fuel and ash system, erection, commissioning, training and start-up.
