Valmet Converting has confirmed orders received at Drupa 2000 in excess of EUR 15.5 million - and there is confirmation to follow on another sale which could boost the final total to almost 20 million Euros.

Following a very successful exhibition for the Group’s first Drupa, Rotomec, world-leading Italian manufacturer of flexo and gravure printing presses and coating & laminating equipment, took the most orders in terms of monetary value for a single business unit. This included 2 of the new Rotopak 3000-5 rotogravure presses, one 8 colour press to India and one 10 colour press to the USA. The third gravure press was an 8 colour Rotopak 3000-3R, sold to a customer in Argentina, with a laminator and a Titan SR6 slitter rewinder.

In addition, 2 flexo presses were sold by Rotomec – one of them, the new Rotomec CI 401 ES flexo press launched at the show - and a second laminator (to the UK) making up the company’s total. Final confirmation is still awaited on another gravure press and a laminator to a customer in Africa.

Titan also did extremely well, receiving orders for two of the new generation Titan SR7 slitter rewinders, officially launched at Drupa. One will be delivered to Kohler Packaging in South Africa, the other to a customer in Brasil. Titan also sold one of the new fully automated SMA 800 slitter rewinders (also making its Drupa debut) – and confirmation for four Titan SR6’s, a CT 600 and a TS 350 turreting slitter rewinder. In total, Titan sold 9 slitter rewinders at the exhibition.

Valmet sheeters had an excellent show with the launch of the new Valmet 1450 CTS series (converters’ type sheeter). Six machines were sold to various customers in the Far East and other locations, with a total sales value of approx. 2 million Euros.

Meanwhile, Atlas accepted an order for three slitter rewinders for labelstock conversion from a customer in the USA.

The countries the orders were taken from were as varied as the equipment sold. The UK, USA, Argentina, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Iran, South Africa, Malaysia, China, Guatemala and Colombia.

Roger Astell, Marketing Manager for Valmet Converting confirmed at the end of an extremely busy exhibition, that Drupa 2000 had been one of the most successful exhibitions ever attended for all business units within the Group - including Rotomec, Atlas and Titan who, prior to the formation of the Group, had always been exhibitors in their own right, as separate companies.

Customers were received from over 50 countries world-wide with a long list of enquiries continuing to be followed up by the Group’s extensive sales team and agents.

Mikko Helander, President of Valmet Converting, also stated that Drupa had delivered excellent results for the Group, beyond expectation and confirmed that Valmet’s objective to become the world’s Number One provider of equipment and solutions for the global converting industry was now well on target.
