Metso starts negotiations regarding temporary lay-offs and personnel reductions in Pori, Finland

Metso will start personnel discussions regarding the temporary lay-off of all personnel, a total of some 260 people, and a reduction of approximately 40 people in Pori, Finland. The measures are caused by the weakening of the global market situation, which has led to changes in order schedules and a reduction in the amount of work.

The measures will commence in January 2009 at the earliest. The members of staff to be temporarily laid off, and the duration and timing of these lay-offs will depend on the workload of each department.

Metso's units in Pori are part of the company's Fiber business line. They specialize in machinery and related expert services for chemical pulping.
