Metso Paper to deliver a board machine to Tonic Emballage in Algeria

Metso Paper and Metso Automation will supply a board machine designed for the manufacture of high quality recycled packaging grades to Tonic Emballage Sarl in Bou-Ismail, Algeria. The new 24 million EUR PM2 is scheduled to start up in mid 2005.

The 3.0-meter wide machine will be supplied from Metso units in Finland, Italy and France and will consist of proven board making technology as well as new Metso technological concepts for packaging grades. It will have a design speed of 900 m/min and will produce two-ply fluting, test liner, white top test liner (WTTL) in basis weight ranges of 80 – 180 g/m².

Metso's delivery scope includes new short circulation system, a two-ply fourdrinier wet end, SymFlo dilution headbox for the bottom ply, SymPress Combi, a Size Press, calender, Valreel, and Metso Automation DNA for the line and for the drives.

Tonic Emballage, located in the Algiers area, is one of the largest producers of paper and board products in Algeria. In 2003 the group ordered a new tissue machine from Metso Paper which is under construction in the same area. They are now going forward with their investment program with the acquisition of the new PM2 line from Metso Paper.
