Metso Paper has signed an extensive 5-year maintenance agreement with Papiers Gaspesia, Chandler, Quebec, Canada, for their PM1 paper production line. Metso Paper will provide maintenance management services, preventive maintenance tools and maintenance data integration jointly with Metso Automation. The agreement is a good example of Metso Paper's strategy to cover the entire life cycle of the customer's process. To this end, our offering includes the manufacture of new machines and processes, service operations, process improvements and machine rebuilds.

During the 5-year period, Metso Paper will ensure that sound proactive daily maintenance routines and procedures are brought into the mill’s long-term use. Metso Paper's maintenance efforts will be supported through its remote connections and the Internet-based Metso Portal for easy access to Metso’s know-how.

The agreement will be part of, and will greatly complement, Metso Paper's ongoing delivery projects to Gaspesia. Metso Paper will supply Papiers Gaspesia with a major rebuild for its high-quality on-line supercalendered or coated printing and writing paper line. This rebuild, which includes the most important parts of the paper making line, will be completed during 2004.
