Metsä-Serla Joutseno Mill orders refiner lines for the new BCTMP mill from Valmet

Metsa-Serla Corporation has placed an order with Valmet for 210,000 tpy refiner line for the new BCTMP mill which will be built at the Joutseno Mill in Finland. The new refiner line is designed to use spruce and aspen as a raw material in production of pulp for Metsa-Serla paper and board mills.

Main machinery of the delivery consists of Valmets newest high capacity refiners.

The start-up of the new plant is scheduled in early autumn 2001. The new BCTMP plant will be built into the same area with the existing Metsä-Botnia Joutseno kraft pulp mill providing significant synergy benefits. Metsä-Serla is one of the majority owners of Metsä-Botnia.
