Atlas Sheeters win significant orders from three major paper mills in China

Atlas Converting Equipment’s Sheeter Division reports that sales of its FK Series Dead Knife sheeter range to paper mills in China are currently very bouyant. This follows the recent confirmation of another contract from Yueyang Paper Group Co. Ltd., in the face of strong international competition.
This latest order from China is to supply a high specification 1800FK sheeter. The machine configuration includes six shaftless unwind stands, an automatic pallet change system and will be delivered to Yueyang Paper in Hunan Province, China, in August of this year.
In contrast, and proving the versatility of the Atlas equipment, high quality carbonless copy paper will be processed by a similar 1650FK sheeter, ordered by Zhanjiang Guanhao Paper Group. This is due for installation at the company’s Zhanjiang mill in Guangdong Province, early this summer.
This sheeter will be operating in a high volume, 24 hour production line and the strength and superior engineering quality of the Atlas machine was a crucial factor for its long term durability, reliability and indeed for winning the contract.
The Atlas machine was also chosen in preference to other major manufacturers, for its advanced delivery system, which avoids sheet marking.
Equipped with four shaftless unwinds and a special vacuum tail arrest mechanism, the central control system was also critically important and provides many advantages to the operator, production manager and plant engineer alike. This makes it a very operator friendly system.
Wuhan Chenming Hanyang Paper Co., part of the Shandong Chenming Group in Hubei Province, is another Atlas customer in China already running an 1800FK sheeter. Also with six shaftless unwind stands, this machine was installed earlier this year and is processing lightweight coated paper to the customer’s complete satisfaction.
Commenting on the orders and other successful business in China in general, Atlas Sheeter Product Manager Steve Brimble said, “Our range of FK Dead Knife sheeters has always been aimed at high volume applications. I am delighted that customers are recognising and acknowledging our versatile and superior sheeter design philosophy for mill applications”.
“Our ability, as part of Valmet Converting Group, to provide a range of Atlas sheeters and winders together with other converting equipment including coaters, laminators, metallizers, slitters, flying splice unwind/rewind systems and flexo and gravure printing presses, delivers substantial benefits to our global customer base”.
