Flash dryer installation at Stora Enso's Hylte mill biocomposite plant

The first ever flash dryer for purely fiber delivered under the Valmet brand is installed at Stora Enso's biocomposite plant at Hylte Mill in Sweden. The project was completed according to schedule and all guarantees fulfilled.
Biocomposites are another step towards replacing fossil-based materials. There is great potential for these renewable materials.

Challenge
The design of the dryer system had to be adapted to fit the new equipment into the existing plant and with other machinery in the production line.
Solution
In the project the Valmet scope of supply included a flash dryer with drying stage, scrubber system, supporting system and platform, construction, insulation, spare parts, basic engineering, mechanical and electrical erection, erection advising, checkout and start-up supervision and training. The dryer dries from 43% to 93% dryness.
Result
The project was completed according to schedule and all guarantees fulfilled. The production volume of the new biocomposite plant is 15 000 tons per year, which makes it the largest woodfiber-biocomposite plant in Europe.
