The Tissue business area supplies tissue machinery, machine rebuilds, tissue converting lines and services for the tissue industry. The solutions are designd to be fit-for-purpose, focusing on energy and raw material savings, efficiency, flexibility and safety. As a result, our customers' end products can be manufactured with the highest quality and increased competitiveness on the market. Thanks to our aftermarket lifecycle offering, our machines can stay operational continiously for decades, producing market leading value of Valmet's customers.

Demand for new tissue machines and tissue converting has been active in South-America, developing economies in Asia and Africa and APAC. Over the years, Valmet has together with its customers delivered over 300 tissue machines globally. Today, Valmet offers its customers extensive Industrial Internet solutions and remote services from Valmet Performance Centres in Jyväskylä, Finland, Karlstad, Sweden and Lucca, Italy.

Tissue machines are used for a variety of purposes, including production of large Parent rolls to smaller end products such as personal hygiene items like paper towels, napkins or sanitary products. Tissue is produced from virgin or recycled pulp.

The tissue making process includes several stages in which the pulp slurry is converted into tissue rolls through forming, pressing, drying and sizing. In addition, a tissue mill includes technology and equipment for stock preparation, air systems, chemical handling and paper finishing, including reeling and winding, automation, flow control and Industrial Internet solutions.
