Coater blades
Coater blades play an important role in the paper or board making process. They hugely affect efficiency, both materials and time, and have a major impact on final product quality. In blade coating, paper quality variations and rapid wearing of coater blades inevitably result in production losses and higher blade costs. The Valmet Coater Blade family consists of four carbide blades which leave a uniform layer of coating color on paper or board surface, thus creating an excellent finish for desired coat weight. In addition to having a major impact on end-product quality, blades also improve production efficiency which in turn leads to more saleable production.

OptiFlo Gap headbox
The key elements of the OptiFlo Gap headbox are its redesigned headbox turbulence generator and slice channel. These allow a consistent and disturbance-free slice jet. The objective of the OptiFlo Gap headbox is to achieve optimal fiber suspension fluidization and to maintain optimal fluidization without disturbance across the forming section.
Conversion to new grade
The world is changing fast; the consumption of newsprint and printing/writing papers is decreasing. The consumption of containerboards or cartonboards are rapidly increasing due to the e-commerce. An old paper machine can be updated with a grade conversion rebuild to produce more profitable products like containerboards, cartonboards or special papers.
Increase capacity
There are several ways to increase the production of a paper or board making line. The paper machine's efficiency can be improved for example by decreasing the number of breaks and shortening the break time. Drying capacity can be found to be a bottleneck. Drying capacity can be increased by solutions that maximize drying efficiency with minimum energy consumption. Machine speed can be limiting production, too.
Improve quality
Quality issues are high on the agenda of every paper and board mill, as optimal quality needs to be produced at the lowest possible cost. Valmet offers a wide scope of solutions and services for better end-product quality, from stock preparation to finishing. Stabilizing running processes in all phases of the process leads to cost-effective quality improvements that do not require major investments. We and our customers share the same targets: optimal quality at the lowest possible cost, consistently in all shifts.
Metal belt technology
Pressing with metal belt technology boosts production capacity by eliminating unsupported open draws. It also increases the dry content after the press by up to 6 % due to more effective water removal at the press nip and evaporation over the hot metal belt. Furthermore, it improves several end product qualities, such as strength and porosity.
High efficiency drying
OptiDry Twin impingement dryer represent high technology drying, enabling up to 30 % fewer drying cylinders (and thus a shorter paper machine and machine room) and optimized runnability due to higher dry content before cylinder drying. It also provides tools for increasing sheet bulk.
Save-all application
Valmet offers the widest, most versatile array of save-all applications for high throughput and increased stock consistencies. Portfolio includes various disc filter, ultrafiltration and bow screen solutions.
