Higher consistency means higher efficiency
Sappi Saiccor's mill in South Africa installed a Twin Blade model of Valmet Microwave Consistency Measurement to achieve higher consistencies for higher efficiency and lower solids losses.
Improving recovery boiler safety
A North American pulp mill was looking to improve the operations and safety of their recovery boiler. They invested in a Valmet Furnace Imaging System, IR (Portable Mid-IR mobile inspection camera) with off-axis lens to safely manage the firing rate of their boiler.
Optimizing the continuous cooking digesters at Stora Enso Imatra Mills
Stora Enso decided to build a new short-fiber pulp line (line 3) for birch cooking, and later to modernize and convert the existing pulp line 2 to long-fiber. Thus, there was a need to optimize the cooking process.
Major mill upgrade at Södra Cell Värö in Sweden
The expanded mill is scheduled to start up in the autumn of 2016 and involves increasing the current production capacity of 425,000 tonnes to 700,000 tonnes of pulp per year. This will make the mill one of the biggest in the world in terms of softwood sulphate pulp production.
China's first pre-hydrolysis dissolving pulp line
Valmet delivered the fiber line from cooking to bleaching for dissolving pulp to Fujian Qingshan Paper in Qingzhou, China.
Reducing chemicals and costs brings savings to German city’s largest wastewater treatment plant
Since 2021, Rosental Wastewater Treatment Plant, in Leipzig, Germany, has successfully relied on two Valmet Total Solids Measurement (Valmet TS) units for its primary sludge treatment and digested sludge dewatering process, enabling the plant to significantly reduce its operating costs.
Reliable solids measurements for centrifuge control
Vaasa Water’s Pått wastewater treatment plant wanted their new centrifuge to operate fully automatically, which requires several continuous measurements. With a Valmet TS and Valmet DS the plant can control the polymer dosing and measure the dry content. The whole project paid for itself in about 1.5 years through the considerable savings in the reprocessing costs of the dried sludge.
Successful I/O migration at Borealis Porvoo
The Borealis Polymers Porvoo plant in Finland, a fully integrated petrochemical complex, has been controlled with automation from Valmet since 1993. As a result, several generations of automation have been periodically extended and upgraded until ultimately replaced as components reach end of life and new technological solutions are introduced. As part of a modernization project to the Olefin Cracker in 2017, Valmet undertook the major task of replacing over 3000 centralized input/output (CIO) cards in 31 I/O cabinets.
Achieving chemical savings with Valmet Total Solids Measurement
Trident Ltd in India targeted for accurate online measurement of solids and chemical consumption optimization at their effluent treatment plant (ETP).
Clean Water Services maximizes efficiency with continuous data
Clean Water Services in Oregon, USA, wanted to maximize the efficiency by using the most modern instruments. Now Valmet's wastewater measurements offer continuous data of sludge solids for operator.
