Reduce downtime with press roll maintenance, three case studies
A scheduled service plan guarantees product quality and machine runnability. Case studies show downtime reduction with Valmet press roll scheduled maintenance.
Sizer applicator beam not unloading at sheet break, a case study
When a sizer applicator beam refuses to unload properly, it presents a personnel and equipment safety risk. This case study follows the diagnosis and ultimate identification of the problem - at the TS cylinder rod end packing assembly.
Steam and condensate system audit for tissue machine Yankee dryer
The steam input and condensate removal system is integral to the efficient and effective operation of your Yankee dryer. A system audit shows the current operating level and provides savings recommendations.
Reel process audits can reduce broke and defects near the spool
Reel equipment can take a beating during normal operation. Periodic inspections of the reel equipment are recommended to develop a baseline with regard to its process variables and mechanical condition.
Online total solids measurement is a winner
Energy savings and lower polymer costs in sludge treatment are among the benefits gained with Valmet Total Solids Measurement (Valmet TS) at Kajaanin Vesi in Finland. In 2012–2013, the plant modernized its sludge treatment facility and had four Valmet TS units installed in the process.
Boosting cost efficiency and sustainability in paper production – all in the mix
In an industry where efficiency and cost savings are paramount, the Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (IKPP) Perawang Mill in Indonesia took a significant step forward by investing in a Valmet SMF Mixer. This purchase has effectively lowered the mill’s chemical and power consumption, addressing the core challenge faced by paper and board manufacturers today – cost reduction.
The cornerstones of safe, successful shutdowns
Successful shutdowns are an essential part of every mill’s maintenance calendar. They help mills maintain their competitiveness, ensure performance and productivity, prevent failures, and reduce operational costs. However, a lot of work goes into making a shutdown go smoothly and safely. We talked to some of Valmet’s shutdown experts to find out more.
Valmet invited to host a Fiberboard Master Class at Sonae Arauco
Sonae Arauco, a global leader in the wood-based panels industry, has an internal academy - Sonae Arauco Knowledge Academy (SAKA) – created to enable people’s development, promote knowledge sharing, and continuous learning within the company. As part of the academy’s initiatives, Valmet was invited to host a Valmet Master Class in fiber processing in MDF manufacturing.
Reduction in gas and electricity consumption with air-system upgrade at TM 3 and 4
A close cooperation between GOLD HONGYE PAPER (HUBEI) (GHY Paper Hubei in short) in Xiaogan and Valmet has generated good results. The TM 3 and 4 air system technology retrofit project has been successfully completed and started up. Since the project started up, the retrofit has shown significant results. The gas consumption of the paper machine has been reduced by an average of 10 cubic meters per ton of paper, and electricity consumption has decreased by 40 kWh per ton of paper. Achieving significant energy-saving and emission reduction goals.
Reliable solids measurements for centrifuge control
Vaasa Water’s Pått wastewater treatment plant wanted their new centrifuge to operate fully automatically, which requires several continuous measurements. With a Valmet TS and Valmet DS the plant can control the polymer dosing and measure the dry content. The whole project paid for itself in about 1.5 years through the considerable savings in the reprocessing costs of the dried sludge.
