Working smarter with Valmet Virtual Maintenance Hub

Valmet Virtual Maintenance Hub brings people, data, and digital tools into one, single-login platform – providing mills with real-time visibility, faster decision-making, and improved control over their maintenance operations.

Valmet Virtual Maintenance Hub can be used on mobile phones or tablets.

As board, paper, tissue, and pulp producers seek more predictable, safe, and efficient maintenance operations, Valmet introduces the Virtual Maintenance Hub to enhance cooperation, transparency, and problem‑solving at mills worldwide. The digital platform connects various applications used for planning, executing, and following up on mill maintenance operations.

Valmet Virtual Maintenance Hub is a digital solution that provides clear visibility into tasks, responsibilities, and work progress. It gathers Valmet’s mill maintenance applications under one platform with easy access through a single login. As a cloud-based solution, it can be integrated with customer’s ERP or CMMS system, enabling further digitalization of the mill maintenance operations,” says Hemmo Lahtinen, Reliability Manager, Services R&D, Valmet.

The Hub has been developed and tested together with Valmet’s long-term maintenance service customers.

Valmet Virtual Maintenance Hub has a clear user interface with single login to multiple applications and databases, supporting easy communication and data sharing within the mill.

How to get started?

Valmet Virtual Maintenance Hub is available for any paper, board, tissue, or pulp mill. It offers easy onboarding and scalable implementation, supported by Valmet’s global service network and training.

Initially, the Hub supports Valmet’s digital services such as the Maintenance Optimization application, the Root Cause Analysis tool, and the Valmet Mobile Maintenance application. The service offering is expanding in the near future.

Customers can start using the Hub with just one or two applications, and more can be added later,” Lahtinen says.

Shorter response times improve efficiency

Today’s mills need to enhance their maintenance operations to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and keep production efficient as mills run faster, more complex processes with fewer available resources. More than ever, mills are looking for real-time visibility to their maintenance processes to make data-based decisions – in case of unexpected production failures, proper root cause analysis and follow-up of corrective actions prevents failure from happening again.

Hub responds to the challenges maintenance teams face today. With enhanced data availability, it helps automate maintenance processes, minimize downtime, and reduce operational costs. It facilitates teamwork and communication between maintenance and production teams and, if desired, offers a direct channel to Valmet Performance Center for remote support around the clock,” Lahtinen notes.

Valmet’s digital services are designed to optimize mill operation, increase uptime, and reduce overall operational costs. For example, the Valmet Maintenance Optimization application automates work scheduling and streamlines resource utilization, improving the efficiency of maintenance and operation teams.

One application to highlight in the platform is Notifications. It’s an interface layer that receives notifications from any other system without the operator needing to login and follow each of them separately. This minimizes the time from issue detection to corrective actions, streamlining maintenance workflow and reducing overall costs,” Lahtinen says.

A new digital era in mill maintenance

Valmet Virtual Maintenance Hub advances digitalization at mills and unlocks the full potential of maintenance data resulting in faster response to equipment failures and improved coordination during maintenance shutdowns. By connecting people, data, and decisions, it enables smarter cooperation, faster problem-solving, and more predictable performance – helping Valmet's customers strengthen their mill's reliability and efficiency across their entire maintenance lifecycle.
