Nov 22, 2024

Jujo Thermal, a subsidiary of Nippon Paper Industries, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of thermal papers used in various labels, tickets and receipts. At the Kauttua Mill in Southwestern Finland, Jujo Thermal operates two paper machines with two off-machine coaters and three winders to produce 70,000 tons of paper per year. To keep its production lines’ performance at an outstanding level, Jujo Thermal relies on Valmet's maintenance know-how – and has done so for 20 years.

Valmet has been responsible for the Kauttua Mill’s daily maintenance since 2004.

I’m thankful for the good cooperation we’ve had with Valmet for twenty years. During this time, we’ve taken significant steps in improving the performance, safety and sustainability of the mill – together. I’m proud to say we are working as one team," says Toshihiro Sawamura, President and CEO of Jujo Thermal.

Enhancing performance with maintenance and upgrades

Toshihiro Sawamura says that one of Valmet’s strengths as a maintenance partner is that it also offers cutting-edge technology for the mill’s entire production line from headbox to winder. He reminds that the global thermal paper market is a very competitive market, where Jujo Thermal – a relatively small player compared to its competitors – succeeds not only thanks to its high-quality products and services, but by continuously enhancing its uniqueness.

“Over the years, our cooperation with Valmet has covered numerous upgrades and other smaller improvements, that have had a significant impact on our mill’s performance. Thanks to Valmet, we have had an excellent opportunity to learn and be exposed to the latest technologies in the field,” he says.

Being close to the customer adds value to the cooperation

Jujo Thermal’s mill in Kauttua is a home for around 40 Valmet’s specialists taking care of the mill’s production line 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“For a paper manufacturer, instant help during unexpected production breaks is the most crucial and the most appreciated service – and that Valmet has provided by always being close by. For the future, I hope we can continue utilizing Valmet’s latest technologies and learning from their experts,” Toshihiro Sawamura says.

Kari Rantama, Valmet’s Site Manager at Kauttua Mill adds:

“We are here not only to provide maintenance services but also to support Jujo Thermal in areas such as improving the performance, sustainability and safety of the mill. This milestone, 20 years of cooperation, shows that we have succeeded as a team.”
