Gaining expertise and building community in Tissue Papermaking training

In May 2026, Karlstad, Sweden once again became a global meeting point for tissue-making expertise as Valmet hosted its annual Tissue Papermaking Training. Around 25 tissue professionals from across the world came together for a learning experience, exploring the full scope of tissue production and sharing experiences.

This week-long program brought together professionals from across the tissue industry and world to deepen technical knowledge. The Tissue Papermaking training is designed to give a comprehensive understanding of the tissue production process and how different roles contribute to maintaining and improving overall productivity. Covering the full production chain, from stock preparation to converting, the training takes a holistic approach to optimizing operations.

Participants gained insights in energy efficiency, automation, and maintenance, with a focus on improving machine runnability and how you can reduce energy use. The training also highlights safety considerations, particularly around the Yankee dryer and dry end section.

The group also the opportunity to take part in simulator sessions, and a tour of the Tissue technology center and the pilot machine, a practical complement to the classroom sessions.
