Building a major new tissue mill in Türkiye: Eruslu’s next chapter

What does it take to enter tissue production at scale? For Eruslu Hygienic Products, the answer starts with a clear ambition: build a major, highly automated tissue mill in Türkiye and get the fundamentals right from day one.

At its Bursa site, Eruslu is preparing to add two Valmet Advantage DCT 200TS tissue lines with a combined annual capacity of 140,000 tons. The first line is planned to start up during 2027, with the second following in 2028. For a company moving into tissue, this is not a cautious first step. It is a long-term industrial commitment designed to create a competitive position in both consumer and Away-from-Home markets.

From hygiene products to an integrated tissue value chain

Eruslu already has a broad base in hygiene products, from baby and adult care to wet wipes and household products, with brands reaching more than 150 countries. The Bursa investment extends that journey upstream into tissue production. By bringing large-scale tissue making together with its established product business, Eruslu is building a more integrated operation with greater control over quality, capacity and future product development.

The scale is worth noting: two machines designed for 2,200 meters per minute, supported by automatic pulper feeding, rewinding, mill design and a broad automation scope. Yet the project is about more than installing equipment. It is about creating a mill that can develop into a safe, stable and efficient tissue operation over time.

With trust in technology and people

Eruslu’s choice to go with Valmet was shaped by trust in both technology and people. The company wanted proven tissue-making technology, extensive automation and digital support, but also a team able to help turn a greenfield investment into a working mill.

The two Advantage DCT lines will be supported by the Valmet DNA Automation System and digital services designed to give operators a clear view of the process, support predictive maintenance and help maintain consistent production. Automatic bale handling will reduce manual work around fiber feeding and contribute to a safer working environment.

A new mill moves through many phases before the first saleable roll reaches the reel—from design and engineering to installation, training, commissioning and start-up. Valmet specialists will work alongside the Eruslu team throughout these stages, bringing tissue-process know-how together with local project work and long-term lifecycle support.

Designed for performance from day one—and for the years ahead

The mill is being designed around the issues that matter every day in tissue production: product quality, energy and fiber efficiency, process stability, occupational safety and ease of operation.

When both tissue lines are running, Bursa will be home to a significant new tissue operation in Türkiye. Before then, there is a great deal of engineering, construction, training and teamwork ahead. That is exactly what makes this project interesting: it is the story of an established hygiene producer committing to tissue at scale—and of two teams preparing to build the capability behind the capacity.
