Valmet celebrates 60 years of Perini Converting technology: Sixty years of innovation, passion and vision serving the tissue converting industry

Lucca, September 2026 – In 1966, in the heart of the Tissue Valley of Lucca, an entrepreneurial journey began that was destined to leave a profound mark on the tissue industry. Driven by passion, determination, technical expertise and a pioneering spirit, the first machine based on Perini technology for tissue converting was developed, giving rise to a company that would help transform the industry on a global scale.

In a region that would later become one of the world’s leading hubs for tissue production and converting, Perini technology has accompanied the evolution of the industry, contributing to higher standards of quality, productivity and efficiency.

From a company deeply rooted in the industrial fabric of Lucca, it progressively expanded its presence into the world’s major markets, bringing the know-how developed in the Tissue Valley to Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Over the course of six decades, Perini technologies have interpreted and often anticipated market needs. From the first rewinders to the most advanced integrated lines, every step has been driven by the commitment to help customers improve their performance and address new production challenges.

Today, this technological and industrial heritage is an integral part of Valmet and contributes to a vision that embraces the entire tissue value chain. Within this framework, converting is part of an integrated approach that combines technologies, services, automation, and expertise to support customers throughout the entire production process.

Among the innovations that have most significantly shaped this history, one holds a special place: Perini Constellation. Introduced ten years ago, this technology redefined the concept of premium production in tissue converting, helping establish new benchmarks in quality, efficiency, and performance.

The year 2026 also marks the tenth anniversary of Perini Constellation, now adopted by 45 of the world’s leading tissue companies, with more than 160 installations worldwide. This achievement reflects the ability to transform research, engineering expertise, and process knowledge into solutions designed to meet the real needs of tissue producers.

Behind these sixty years are, above all, the people who made it possible. Engineers, technicians, operators, customers and partners have all contributed to building a wealth of knowledge, relationships, and experience that has accompanied the evolution of both the company and the industry.

Sixty years after that first step taken in Lucca, Perini technology remains one of the global benchmarks in tissue converting.
