A semi-automatic system for the parent reel change
The system joins the web of the finished reel with the web of the new reel already prepared by the operator safely off the line. The system allows the operator to load the new reel while the finished one has been automatically ejected and is waiting in a dedicated area. The loading and unloading operations take place without the need for access to the inside of the unwinder. The system is easy to use, fast and safe.

Main characteristics
The replacement of the exhausted reels on the unwinders is an operation that takes up a lot of time for the
operators, starting from the preparation of the splice tail arriving at the restart of the line.
With this solution, Valmet Tissue Converting makes it possible to limit the stopping time of the line to a few
minutes, while improving the safety of the operators, who conduct the operations from a secluded position with
respect to the unwinder.
