Increased capacity and improved quality at Guangxi Jingui’s pulp mill in China with two new Valmet BCTMP lines
Guangxi Jingui Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. has selected Valmet to deliver two complete bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulping (BCTMP) lines to its mill in Qinzhou, China. The investment will increase pulp production capacity, improve pulp quality, and reduce specific energy consumption, helping the company meet growing market demand while supporting efficient and reliable production.

The two new BCTMP lines will each have a capacity of 1,200 air-dried tonnes mechanical pulp per day and utilize Valmet’s unique high temperature chemi-thermomechanical pulping (HT-CTMP) technology. The delivery combines Valmet’s latest CTMP technology with the Valmet DNA automation system to support consistent pulp quality, efficient use of raw materials, and optimized energy consumption.
“With this investment we will be able to meet our increased quality and capacity needs in line with our strategy. We have previous experience of Valmet’s BCTMP technology and are currently upgrading a previously delivered BCTMP line with Valmet’s unique high temperature technology. We chose Valmet to deliver this project based on experiences of previous projects and their ability to meet our demands with the high temperature CTMP solution,” says Yichang Zhong, Pulp Production Line Director, Guangxi Jingui Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd.
The delivery of these two new lines complements the previous service delivery and upgrade of another BCTMP line as this HT-CTMP proprietary technology easily can be installed to existing lines as a retrofit.
“Many customers have recently invested in Valmet’s HT-CTMP technology which delivers high bulk and low shive content. With HT-CTMP technology, the mill will be able to produce higher quality pulp with lower energy consumption combined with enhanced production line operational flexibility. Valmet’s local service teams are close to our customers to ensure that both new lines and line upgrades provide added value and extend the lifetime of the machines,” says Xiaowei Ma, Director, China, Pulp, Energy and Circularity, Valmet.
The order was included in Valmet’s orders received for the second quarter of 2026 and the start-up is scheduled in the second half of 2027. The value of the order is not disclosed.
Leading technology and automation delivery
Valmet will deliver the two BCTMP lines, line numbers 4A and 4B, with Valmet DNA process controls, including engineering procurement and supervision of the assembly as well as commissioning support. The lines feature Valmet’s advanced HT-CTMP technology. The core of this technology lies in innovative pressurized impregnation and high-temperature preheating processes, which optimizes the fiber separation zone and better preserves wood fiber length, making it ideal for lightweight board grades and tissue products.
Valmet DNA as the central process control platform integrates analyzers, measurements, and system interfaces. It emphasizes optimizing chemical dosage and refining through real-time data (brightness, pH, peroxide, fiber properties). The system includes extensive instrumentation, analyzers, and motor controls, with robust security, redundancy, and support services for efficient, high-quality pulp production.
This order is preceded by a service delivery project where Valmet is upgrading the BCTMP line number 3 with the high temperature features. This retrofit package consists of a complete system including pressurized impregnators, high-temperature preheaters and intelligent control systems. The project targets to improve product quality and reduce energy consumption.
