Manufacturing investments strengthen delivery reliability of Valmet refiner segments
Valmet has completed significant investments in its refiner segment manufacturing in Valkeakoski, Finland, to improve capacity, delivery reliability, and product quality for customers.
During summer 2025, existing machining capability was expanded with the installation of two modern machining centers. In early 2026, this was followed by the installation of two new furnaces at Valmet’s foundry, introducing the latest technology to support high-quality casting production. These investments have significantly strengthened Valmet’s in-house manufacturing capabilities.
As a result, Valmet’s in-house machining capacity has increased by 24%, while the upgraded foundry ensures stable and consistently high-quality castings for refiner segment production. For customers, this translates into improved availability, higher quality, and more reliable deliveries.
In parallel, Valmet has strengthened cross-functional collaboration with its internal foundries in Hagfors, Sweden, and Waukesha, USA. All Valmet foundries operate according to the same quality standards, ensuring consistent quality and a reliable supply of castings to support machining operations across sites.
The implementation of these investments was carried out with minimal impact on customer deliveries. The benefits are already clearly visible in improved delivery performance and reliability.
With these investments, Valmet further strengthens its ability to support customers’ refining operations with reliable deliveries and consistent product quality.
