Building meaningful narratives: Deepika Mundra's career journey

Deepika Mundra, Valmet, Marketing Specialist

From technical expertise to customer stories

For Deepika Mundra, joining Valmet meant combining marketing with a company known for its strong engineering heritage and expertise.

“What drew me to Valmet was the combination of strong engineering legacy and the opportunity to build something on the marketing side in a B2B industrial space.”

Since joining, her journey has evolved from understanding the technical depth of the business to translating that knowledge into meaningful narratives for customers.

“Over time, I’ve moved from execution to more strategic involvement, connecting marketing more closely with sales and business outcomes.”

Connecting content, strategy and business

Today, Deepika works in marketing for Valmet’s Flow Control business, focusing on the Middle East, India and Africa (MEIA) region. Her role sits at the intersection of content, strategy and business alignment.

Her work spans exhibition planning, customer seminars, campaign development, customer case studies and collaboration with sales teams. Whether working with regional priorities or customer communications, the goal remains the same.

A big part of my work is making sure what we communicate actually reflects real customer value.

Growing through trust and ownership

Valmet’s culture has also supported Deepika’s professional growth.

“Valmet has given me the space to shape my role beyond a defined job description. That freedom has helped me grow from a purely execution-focused role into someone who contributes to strategy and direction.”

She credits the company’s culture of trust as a key factor in building confidence and expanding her skills.

“There’s also trust; once you take ownership, you’re encouraged to run with it.”

The same trust is reflected in the workplace culture.

“People are approachable, even in highly technical roles, and there’s a genuine willingness to help.”

Deepika notes that collaboration happens naturally because people are working toward common goals and respecting different areas of expertise.

Come in with curiosity. The more effort you put into understanding the business and its technical side, the more you’ll get out of the role.

Creating meaningful impact

One of Deepika’s most rewarding experiences has been working on customer success stories.

“Taking a technical solution and turning it into a clear, impactful narrative” has been especially fulfilling, particularly when those stories resonate with both customers and sales teams.

Her work also contributes to making the value of Valmet’s solutions more visible.

“A lot of what we do involves solutions that improve efficiency, reduce waste, or optimize performance for customers. My role is to make those benefits visible, helping customers understand not just the product, but the long-term value it creates in terms of sustainability and operational improvement.”

What motivates her most is “the combination of complexity and impact.”

If she had to describe Valmet in three words, they would be Technical, Trust-driven and Evolving — qualities that have shaped both her career journey and the way she helps tell Valmet’s story.

Valmet has given me the space to shape my role beyond a defined job description. That freedom has helped me grow from a purely execution-focused role into someone who contributes to strategy and direction.
