For highest quality coated board or paper, with high smoothness and gloss, in blade coating, Valmet offers a full range of reliable rubber roll covers as well as a high performing polyurethane cover. These roll covers have good wear resistance and strength properties ensuring long grinding intervals and long lifetime.
For highest quality coated paper, with high smoothness and gloss, the process of choice is the blade coater, and here Valmet offers a full range of reliable rubber covers as well as a high performing polyurethane covers. These covers keep the smooth surface finish during their running time for smooth coating profiles. Good wear resistance and strength properties ensure long grinding intervals and long lifetime. The blade coater cover offering ranges from our well proven economical rubber cover to more durable rubber cover to the most durable polyurethane cover.
Valmet Coater Roll Cover Eco offers affordable performance. This well-proven rubber cover with good wear and impact marking resistance is in use in coater stations around the world. It has been upgraded to give more resistance against rubber ageing.
Strong Valmet Coater Roll Cover CE-W offers additional durability when rubber is the choice.
Valmet Coater Roll Cover CC is a special PU cover for when the going get’s tough and grinding intervals are decreasing because of severe edge wear. This PU cover gives the longest running times under abrasive (ceramic-tipped) blade contact, keeping the covers edges in shape.
Quality defects due to CD profile issues, e.g. variation of coat weight profile, result in lower material efficiency and higher costs per ton. New opportunities to improve coating process overall performance are created with online measurement of the blade or applicator roll profile and loading conditions, by using iRoll system with coater backing roll, e.g. Valmet Coater Roll Cover CC with iRoll sensor inside.
iRoll Coater helps to improve paper quality by uniform coating application with online measurement of blade loading profile. This helps to avoid skew beam loading as it is possible to adjust equal force of actuators on both sides. Straightness of beam and temperature compensation of beam bending can be monitored during different production conditions. In the coating stations that have manually adjustable profiling spindles, it is possible to get an optimal profiling as the blade loading can be seen online while doing the adjustments.
iRoll Coater can be used with all coating processes, with blade, rod or roll application.
Valmet is the market leader in film coaters and sizers, and has developed a great deal of related process know-how. We have put this expertise to good use in developing new roll cover materials that deliver uncompromised sizing and coating performance with both grooved and smooth rods, as well as with coating blades.
