A chronic press load/unload diaphragm rupturing problem crippled the operation of the press at a mill. Plate and diaphragm misalignment were only part of the problem. Further analysis pointed to nipping roll diameter changes and incorrect diaphragm specifications.
Saica Paper Partington renews Performance Agreement with Valmet: Looking for continuous development in paper machine performance
The Spanish paper and cardboard manufacturer SAICA, launched its U.K. operations in 2012 with the startup of PM11 in Partington. As of day one, Valmet’s expertise has been utilized on site. Due to a recent renewal of the Performance Agreement, the co-operation will continue until at least 2020.

Successful I/O migration at Borealis Porvoo
The Borealis Polymers Porvoo plant in Finland, a fully integrated petrochemical complex, has been controlled with automation from Valmet since 1993. As part of a modernization project to the Olefin Cracker in 2017, Valmet undertook the major task of replacing over 3000 centralized input/output (CIO) cards in 31 I/O cabinets.
