New high-performance tissue production at Suzano
A major milestone has been reached with the start-up of Suzano’s new tissue production site in Southeast Brazil. The project includes a state-of-the-art high-performance tissue machine and converting lines, delivering a complete solution for tissue production.

Operations began in early September, marking the success of a partnership launched in November 2023 and setting the stage to meet the growing demand for high-quality tissue with a reduced environmental footprint.
The scope of supply was essential for enabling the new plant, including the delivery of a high-tech tissue machine, Valmet Advantage DCT 200, and two Perini Constellation S8 tissue converting lines.
Seeing the Aracruz tissue mill in operation is a great source of pride for us. The success of this project — especially the early start-up of the converting lines and the tissue machine — demonstrates Valmet’s commitment to delivering not just equipment, but complete solutions that drive efficiency and productivity for our customers. Contributing to Suzano’s growth and its consolidation in the consumer goods market further strengthens our partnership."
Rogério Berardi, Paper, Packaging and Tissue Business Director in Latin America
From this new mill, Suzano will have capacity to produce 60,000 tons of tissue per year, which will feed two converting lines, to produce 30,000 tons per year each. Valmet technology is the heart of this process, ensuring that production meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency, from paper manufacturing to its conversion and packaging for the end consumer.
This is a new chapter in our history with Aracruz. For nearly 50 years, we’ve been producing pulp in the state, and now we’re expanding our operational capacity. The new facility ensures high-quality production, strengthens the logistics between our plants, and allows us to deliver our products to customers more quickly and consistently.”
Claudinei Matos, Director of Industrial Operations for Consumer Goods at Suzano
The Advantage DCT technology has become a global standard for conventional tissue paper production. It enables sustainable production of high-quality tissue paper with low energy and water consumption, high efficiency, and reliability at low operating costs, thanks to its advanced features such as the OptiFlo TIS headbox for optimal sheet formation with minimal water usage; the Advantage ViscoNip press, which ensures uniform pressing of the sheet, achieving high dryness levels and bulk; the Valmet DNA Distributed Control System (DCS) with integrated machine condition monitoring; the Valmet IQ Quality Control System (QCS) and softness sensor; as well as flow control valves and services from the Performance Center.
One of the highlights is the performance of Valmet's Perini Constellation S8 converting lines, which began operating ahead of schedule. Line 01 started up 65 days earlier than planned, reaching a productivity rate of 72.3% within just a few hours of operation (producing 2,982 bundles in eight hours). Line 02 started operating shortly thereafter, demonstrating both the efficiency of the technology and the strong synergy in planning and execution between Valmet and Suzano.
The Valmet Perini Constellation S8 converting lines installed in the Aracruz mill are equipped with cutting-edge technology, ensuring uniform rewinding from the first to the last sheet and guaranteeing the superior quality of the finished product, such as triple-ply toilet paper. Its innovative four-roll system simplifies the process and ensures consistent performance, allowing operation at higher speeds while maintaining the product's softness and integrity.
