Building future together at Valmet Pulp Customer Days is Sundsvall

The first-ever Valmet Pulp Customer Days was organized in Sundsvall, Sweden, on March 10–12, 2026 with the theme “Leading the way in sustainable pulp production”. The event brought together customers from North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, along with few representatives from industry media.

The event brought together customers from North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, along with few representatives from industry media. Over the two-day conference, presentations were structured around key topics including global pulp market changes and their implications for companies, sustainability as an opportunity, improving efficiency, and new value streams and product differentiation.

In addition to presentations, the demo stands featured Valmet’s Automation, Flow Control, 3D molded fiber products, textile recycling, LignoBoost and BioTrac solutions.  The site visits to Valmet own facilities as well as the reference visit to SCA Ortviken mill, offered an opportunity for more “hands-on” experience.  

Offering a unique experience in Sundsvall

“We wanted to use this opportunity to showcase our Valmet Fiber Technology Center and product lifecycle capabilities in Sundsvall. With its long history, the site represents a combination of our technology and lifecycle expertise, enabling close collaboration and innovation together with our customers. Bringing together such a large group of our global customers made the event especially valuable and enabled meaningful face-to-face dialogue,” says Sami Riekkola, Executive Vice President, Pulp, Energy and Circularity, Valmet.

“We saw Sundsvall as a unique opportunity to showcase our own facilities and customer reference project. In addition, the wintery setting of Sundsvall offered a memorable experience for our global customers. The excellent experience is also reflected on the feedback we received from our customers immediately after the event,” explains Laura-Maria Saarinen, Marketing Director, Pulp, Energy and Circularity, Valmet.

Innovations and customer insights take center stage

The conference presentation included both customer reference and key themes from Valmet. Customer presentations offered invaluable real-world perspectives. Arauco, Circulose, Klabin, Mercer Rosenthal, SCA and Sun Paper shared their experiences, innovations, and forward-looking approaches to pulp production. Valmet’s own presentations covered for example our new strategy, lifecycle concept and carbon capture offering.

“Customer cases are always the most valued presentations. In addition, we had three keynote presentations: Hawkins Wrights pulp market outlook focusing on the China impact, and RISE, the Research Institutes of Sweden, about bioeconomy opportunities and AI. Demo strands in the conference area allowed an additional opportunity to network with Valmet experts,” says Lotta Forssell, Senior Marketing Manager, Pulp, Energy and Circularity, Valmet.
