Valmet´s seasonal donation to Médecins Sans Frontières - Doctors Without Borders

Valmet continues its holiday season tradition to support selected global humanitarian organizations and projects. Every year Valmet's employees globally vote for the donation target, and this year the support goes to Médecins Sans Frontières - Doctors Without Borders.

With a EUR 20,000 donation Valmet supports Médecins Sans Frontières in providing lifesaving medical care to millions of people caught in crises around the world. Donated funds are used for medical services which are provided free of charge to people in need. The activities include treating patients in health centres or hospitals by providing consultations, surgical or maternal services, pediatric services and vaccinations.

“We are very thankful for Valmet’s seasonal donation to our humanitarian cause. It is thanks to the generosity of our donors that we are able to operate independently and provide humanitarian assistance in some of the world’s most insecure environments and forgotten crises,” says Linda Konate, Country Director of Médecins Sans Frontières office in Finland.

The organization provides medical and humanitarian assistance to people facing extreme hardship in over 70 countries. From treating war-wounded ever closer to frontlines in Yemen, to responding to epidemic outbreaks such as ebola and measles in Democratic Republic of Congo, or providing assistance to people fleeing violence in the Central African Republic, emergency response is a core part of their work.

“Every year our employees actively vote for Valmet’s seasonal donation. In addition to this important tradition, supporting non-governmental organizations is also a part of our Sustainability360 agenda. Next year we will strengthen our focus on social responsibility even more by executing new programs,” says Laura Puustjärvi, Head of Sustainability, Valmet.

Médecins Sans Frontières - Doctors Without Borders is an international, independent medical humanitarian organization that provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.
