The Valvcon Quarterback QB-series is a new electric actuator designed for quarter-turn applications. The Quarterback is intended for valves and dampers that need to drive to a predefined safe position after a loss of external power, using a mechanical spring back-up. 

Why does mechanical spring back-up matter for quarter-turn applications?

In applications where a predefined safe position is required after external power is lost, the fail-safe function needs to be dependable. The Quarterback uses a patented mechanical spring back-up system to drive valves and dampers to that predefined safe position after a loss of external power. This reduces lifecycle costs because no routine maintenance is required.

Traditional spring‑return actuators have historically been large, heavy, costly, and limited in design flexibility. Inventory can be reduced because the same unit can be used for AC and DC applications. The multi-voltage input supports 115VAC, 230VAC, and 24VDC. It can also be reconfigured in the field for either fail clockwise or fail counterclockwise.
