Valmet’s automation to optimize renewable energy production and water management at new hydropower plants in Vietnam

Valmet will supply automation systems for Daklo 1-3 Power Company Limited’s Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 hydropower plants currently being built in Kon Plong Ward, Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The order was placed by Industries Equipment and Solution Company Ltd (IESC), a local Valmet partner, which has signed a contract with the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor to deliver the systems. The mission‑critical automation system will control and monitor all essential hydropower processes, ensuring safe, reliable, and high‑performance electricity generation. It also supports sustainability goals by optimizing water balance and maximizing both energy and operational efficiency.

Valmet will supply automation systems for Daklo 1-3 Power Company Limited’s Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 hydropower plants currently being built in Kon Plong Ward, Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam.
Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 hydropower plants, currently under construction, are set to become key renewable energy facilities in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam, with capacities of 12 MW and 22 MW. These run-of-river plants contribute clean electricity to the national grid, support regional energy supply, and efficiently utilize local water resources through modern hydropower infrastructure. The plants are expected to enter commercial operation in spring 2027.
The order is included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2025. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The deliveries will be taken over by the customer with Daklo 1 at the end of 2026 and Daklo 3 in spring 2027.
Delivery’s technical information
Valmet’s delivery includes Valmet Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and electric governor controls for both Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 hydropower plants. The scope also covers engineering, design, supply, and commissioning of the complete automation system to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
