Valmet to supply automation and quality control systems to Schumacher Packaging Myszków Sp. z o.o. in Poland

Valmet Oyj’s trade press release on December 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. EET 

Valmet will supply Valmet DNA Automation System (DCS) and Valmet IQ Quality Control System (QCS) to Schumacher Packaging’s Myszków plant in Poland for the rebuild of the board machine 2. The target is to improve the plant’s production efficiency and end-product quality. The installation is scheduled to start in May 2023.

The order was included in Valmet's orders received of the third quarter 2022. The value of the order will not be disclosed.

Technical information about the delivery

Valmet’s delivery is part of the BM2 rebuild that aims to increase the mill’s capacity to better meet the growing demand for made-to-measure packaging solutions. Valmet’s delivery includes the modernization of the stock preparation and board machine DCS, extension of the existing QCS with an additional scanner and renewal of the quality controls.

The Schumacher Packaging Group is one of the largest family businesses in the industry in Europe. It is based in Ebersdorf bei Coburg in Germany with 27 branches in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. The group is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of corrugated and solid board packaging solutions, and the third actor in the Polish local packaging market with five production plants. The Myszkow plant was taken over by Schumacher packaging in 2016 and its initial production of newsprint was turned to corrugated board production in 2019 thanks to a large investment program.
