Summary

Location Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Perawang (IKPP) PPM3, Indonesia
Customer challenges

The mill had challenges in their PPM3 related to short regrinding intervals of calender roll cover on CC roll because of paper ridging and barring. The average grinding intervals was 31-32 days, sometimes only 15 days.

Solution

The calender roll was recovered with Valmet Calender Roll Cover CL, a premium composite cover providing minimal nip deformation, high wear resistance and very uniform structure.

Results

  • The grinding interval of calender roll cover has increased, running time matching with scheduled roll changes. Average grinding interval is 53 days, reaching a maximum of 90 days.
  • Fewer planned and unplanned roll changes reducing maintenance costs
  • Maximum cover lifetime
