Clothing/padding for chest ironers and presses

Higher output for your ironer

One turn clothing/padding

Thick needled felts are applied in one turn on top of the individual springs of heated chest ironers. Fixing of the one turn felt needs to be done by a specialist and can be done by sewing top-to-top or by bevelled cut. In our one turn felts we use special synthetic fibres such as polyester, Meta Aramid, Polyacrylonitrile, etc.

Our range of one turn felts covers the need of any ironer on the market: from 3000 gr/m² to 4200 gr/m² and from 1.65 m of width up to 4.35 m of width.

Please consult us for special high temperature one turn felt for working temperature up to 205ºC (oil heated ironer), as our range of products is in constant evolution.

Advantages:

  • Special needling process that ensures an even thickness of the material and that the layers of fibers will not separate or loose fibers during working process
  • For the polyester clothing:
    • The special type of fiber used has a much higher resistance to hydrolysis (destruction of the polyester fiber because of humidity and heat)
    • The coarser fiber used gives a better grip of the linen and 2 to 3 times higher air permeability, which means a higher suction of the ironer roll and a higher output of the ironer.

Two turn clothing/padding

All the major ironer manufacturers in the world use Valmet Laundry Products needled felts to cover their ironer rolls. In our two turn felts we use special synthetic fibers such as polyester, Meta Aramid, PTFE, PPS, etc.

Most of the major manufacturers of flatwork ironers in the world use Valmet’s needled felts to cover (pad) their ironers. In our felts we use special synthetic fibers such as polyester, Meta Aramid, PTFE, PPS and/or blends of these mentioned fibers.

Installation of the two turn felt can be done in one piece of two turns or can be done in two pieces of one turn half-overlap in each other, depending of the type of heated chest flatwork ironer.

Our range of two turn products covers the need of any ironer on the market: from 400 g/m² to 1300 g/m² and from 1.60 m of width up to 5.00 m of width.

Advantages:

Higher strength and low elongation due to its unique internal scrim design

  • For the polyester clothing:
    • The fiber used has a much higher resistance to hydrolysis (destruction of the polyester fiber because of humidity and heat)
    • The coarser fiber used gives a better grip of the linen and 2 to 3 times higher air permeability, which means a higher suction of the ironer roll and a higher output of the ironer.
  • All our felts are pre-compacted which means the layers of fibers will not separate or loose fibers during working process (high resistance to abrasion).

Clothing for presses

We produce a complete range of needled felts for different types of presses for the laundries as well as dry cleaning and the confectioning industries with different thicknesses and weights.

There are many different types of presses. Below, please find a basic scheme of potential way to pad the press:

A. Plate covering base cloth of 400 g/m² Meta Aramid.

B. Thick needled filling felts in polyester and polyester & foam. The foam gives a good resilience, but the working temperature is limited to 120ºC.

C. Thin needled in between felts in 100% polyester and in 100% Meta Aramid.

D. Top covering in synthetic fabric: 100% polyester white fabric, 100% polyester green elastic mesh and 100% Meta Aramid white/yellow fabric for a higher working temperature and longer working life.
