Diversity and inclusion

The Valmet community is a diverse one. We have over 19 000 individuals working in more than 40 countries, and representing 85 nationalities. We value teamwork as an important part of our organization’s success. In working together, we respect each other’s points of view and encourage regular exchange of ideas.

We are committed to promoting equal opportunities for all employees, regardless of age, disability, ethnic or national origins, gender reassignment, marital/civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or beliefs, sex, and sexual orientation. We recognize the business benefits of having a diverse workforce and we aim to create and sustain a work environment that appreciates diversity.

Building diversity

Organizations like ours cannot be successful without recognizing the importance of diversity. Being able to measure and report on a variety of diversity metrics is becoming increasingly important. The diversity metrics we are currently able to measure and report on globally include gender, age and nationality*.

We also follow education structure, service years and internal mobility metrics, as these tell a lot about our workforce’s overall background and experience. Ultimately, the more different views, experiences, and backgrounds we have, the more competitive, innovative and interesting we will be as an organization.

Diversity metrics

As one example of our ongoing diversity initiatives, we are closely following our gender balance, including the share of women in the workforce. We are committed to be active in promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) as an attractive area of study and career for girls and women of all ages.
