3% savings in vessel fuel consumption

As energy prices rise, more and more attention must be paid to reducing consumption while still keeping the vessels in operation. Valmet’s innovation offers remarkably improved fuel efficiency.
Valmet DNA Sea Optimal Mode is an advanced process controller
that acts as a separate PMS mode. Its purpose is to achieve greater fuel
efficiency by utilizing unbalanced load distribution. With it, shipowners
can achieve as much as 3% savings in fuel consumption. The actual savings
vary based on the load of the power plant in the vessel and specific fuel
consumption (SFC) profile of the engine.
Load optimization is priority based. This means the algorithm is
designed to set the highest priority engines to the optimal load first.
The application has been tested in close cooperation with shipyards and
ship owners, and is already in use on several cruise vessels.
